Ramblin' Sunday Once Again

Saturday was a truly beautiful day. Not just the weather (yes the weather people guessed wrong again), you see my brother got married. I'm so happy for him. A few years ago his wife of 30+ years passed away. I can't imagine how awful that was for him. So he found a site somewhere to talk to other people who lost their spouses. And he met the bride to be there. This is the wonderful side of the internet. So yesterday they got married, what a wonderful thing for both of them. The last few years have been rough for our family. It's good to see us carry on and look to the future. Love is an amazing thing. If only our world shared more of it. Like the song says, "what a wonderful world it would be."........

Another Ramblin' Sunday

Last night or should I say early this morning, I was half asleep when I had some ideas for my blog today. Well once I woke up all those ideas faded away with the sleep. All I can remember is I had some ideas about asking some questions. Kinda reminds me of years gone by when I posted a lot. The only difference is I would remember what I wanted to write and somehow got it down before those ideas faded away. As I write this I thought of something else that was on my mind. An old post I saw rekindled on FB. This one has been around for so long......
Well... I'm at the emergency room.
Today was not a good day. Thought I'd step out of my comfort zone and go horseback riding, something I haven't done since I was a teenager. It turned out to be a big mistake! I got on the horse and started out slow, but then we went a little faster. Before I knew it, we were going as fast as the horse could go. I couldn't take the pace and fell off, but caught my foot in the stirrup with the horse dragging me. It wouldn't stop. Thank goodness the manager of the store came out and unplugged the machine...

Doesn't that take you back lol. Have a great week and be sure to fill it with lots of smiles.

Sunday Ramble

To start with, it was a very long week. All the while this weekend is flying by. This past week was my first week back after a week of vacation. Wow how it seemed so long. It's a a matter of how we perceive things. After all everyday is 24 hours, right?
My friend Lia started a new thing called "mouthing off " in her blogs and for her suggestion I think I'll do so too. And I'll do what I've always mouthed off about. Drivers. It gets worse everyday. You gotta be more mindful now when the light turns green for you these days. I saw what could have been a horrific accident the other day. A bus getting ready to turn left opposite me as the light was about to change. Two cars ran the red light. The first one could have stopped easily so you know what that means about the second one. So Saturday I picked up a newspaper. During the work week I usually read some of one while at lunch. My co-worker brings it in. I usually just read the community section with the daily comics in it. Yes that's the best part of the paper. So Saturday's front page story was about a 24 year old being charged for hitting two 17 year olds who were walking in the street. The driver was driving northbound and the two kids were walking northbound. When I grew up it was always common sense to walk toward the oncoming traffic. That said I'm not faulting the kids. Police say the driver was texting and driving. WTH? Has this generation lost all common sense? Sadly the two kids were killed. So I wonder have we failed as parents and teachers not teaching common sense to our kids? I would not in a million years have the thought to text and drive. 99% of the time I won't answer my phone while I'm driving.
Ok that's all for mouthing off for this post. All in all it's been a pleasant weekend. The weather has turned out great. We lucked out not to have had the big storms they said would happen Thursday night and Friday morning. If we had got them I wouldn't be writing today since I figure the house would have floated away to somewhere....
Let's start this week giving some of that common sense back to our younger generations.

Sunday Ramble, the Week That Was..

Well I was thinking of what to write today and nothing was coming to me. Then as I type little things pop up in my mind and here the blog takes a mind of it's own. So once again let's start with politics. Congress is on their Summer break and I was on vacation this week so there's nada for politics. While I was off I ignored the news and blues that tv gives us a daily dose of. I had planned on getting a lot of work done around the house while I was off. I got a good start on lots of stuff but still not as far along as I wanted to be before I return to work tomorrow. Still...needed to have some time to get some much needed rest. After 9 days off it will be hard getting back in the groove this week. All in all it was a good week. The weather people were all wrong again and it's been beautiful here. I love when they are wrong. Not that there wasn't storms in the area, they just didn't hit here with the severe stuff. That didn't stop all the weather alerts especially the ones on the phone weather app. Speaking of apps. There's an app for everything these days. And everybody pushes their app. I imagine most people are like me and get sick of "Get our app". If I want to download an app I will but please quit trying to push it on me.
So let's just say this post is about mindless nothingness. Let's start this week with tons of smiles. Yes it's July already. This week lots of fireworks were set off before the 4th and after the 4th. I didn't have to go anywhere to see a nice firework show. There's a house down the street, about a half a block that put on a great show. Last year being the the first 4th of July here in our new home they did a great show then. My neighbors across the street told me they do it every year. This year was even better than last year and I could see this time that they have a lot of her putting on a spectacular show. It's ironic because no police showed up. Our street was covered with cars of people coming for their party and the show. The ironic part is fireworks are basically illegal to set off.
That's about it for this Sunday post..be good......

Ramblin' for the holiday..

First I'll start this post kinda like last week. Beautiful weather. Hope it sticks around for the 4th. Hopefully the people down the street a short ways will put on another spectacular fireworks show. After we moved in here our first 4th they did a great show and the neighbor across the street told me they do every year. Last night I heard those early birds setting off their fireworks. It happens every year no matter where I've lived in this city. Early birds lol.
Ok another note on the political world. Well Congress delayed their vote on a new health care package. I'm sure all the flack and some of them saying they would not support it in its current form made them delay. And once again from the WH come insults and attacks on that and the press too. Thanks to social media, the current Pres can tweet his stuff right away before his press secretary can stop it before damage can be done. Everyone should be asking themselves one question. "How long can we let this farce continue?"
For me this weekend is a long one. My company is giving us The 3rd and 4th off thus making it a 4 day weekend. For me that means I only needed to burn 3 days vacation to have a paid week off. And boy do I need it. I'll be busy though getting the long needed tasks done around here. So much stuff was left of mom and dad's things that I haven't got around to distributing it to somewhere. I guess it's because working and looking after the house and my gf just takes so much of my time. By weeks end getting the usual things people do to keep their home in shape takes time and after a week's work I admit I am exhausted. The Golden Years as they are called aren't what any of us expect them to be. With the cost of things today it's always in the back of mind when I can actually retire. Still we carry on...
As I started this ramble, like any one of them, I've got ideas to write about. Then it takes a life of it's own and never stays with what those ideas were. Well sorta anyway. Yesterday I was messing with my phone trying to take some "selfies" and none of them came out that good. I need to get me another camera. I really miss having one since the other one broke. And I figure what did it in was the last place we lived. One day the ac went out and it took me a week to get management to fix it. Meanwhile it got really hot weather wise which made the apartment unbearable.  My gf was in a physical therapy facility so it was just me and the dog suffering through it. Anyhoo I think that's how my camera got ruined because I didn't think in time to take the batteries out. So the last thing I want to put in here today is a thank you to all of my readers. I keep calling these rambles because they sure are lol. Wishing a Happy 4th of July to all....
