Sunday Christmas Ramble

It's a slow progress for my GF. I pray it won't be too long into 2018 before she comes home. Speaking of 2018. As we approach this new year, it always seems that the current year has flown by. And 2017 is no exception. Scientifically every year is the same amount of time. With an extra day thrown in every 4 years for leap year. So it's something about us humans that read years differently in regards to time. For me and many of the friends I share this with here, it's as we get older in years that the years seem to go faster. At this point it feels like we skipped over the entire Summer this year to get here. I just want to thank my friends that are here at blogger and the plus for their love and prayers through a most difficult year. This will be my last ramble for the year.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Not much to say today. Looks like a long recovery for my GF. But I will keep hoping she will be home for Christmas.

Have a wonderful week.......

A Wednesday Ramble

An update. My GF is in a rehab facility for Physical Therapy. It's going to be slow going since she was in the hospital for a long time. It's stressful for both of us. Thanks for your prayers my friends, they do help.
I took more time off work so I could be there for her and see how this place is. It seems to me these facilities for PT rehab are understaffed and not what you would consider great when you look at the medical profession over all. These types of facilities are also hospice places too. Anyhoo it's still going to be a long time for her to get back to where she was before her hospital stays. Plus this center is farther away that I have to use the highway to get there. For some reason there is a whole more traffic during the day than you would figure. I mean most people are working right? So part of the highway I am taking has a speed limit of 65 mph. Before the snow got here I would usually do around 70 mph. I was getting passed by a lot of cars like I was standing still. I figure that means they had to be going 80 or better mph. Driving is insane anymore. It's hard not to lose it with the dumb things people do while driving. That makes me think we have failed to educate well enough. For a rich country like ours we are failing miserably. Don't get me started on people who don't know what a turn signal is.
There's just 12 days until...start singing...

Sunday Ramble..

When it rains it pours. That's how the expression goes. Monday my GF is going to get a scan. Seems there is a blood clot in the fistula (the port in her arm where she is plugged in for dialysis). Hopefully it will go smoothly and it will be taken care of. She has a long way to go and I still have hope she will be home for Christmas. It's heartbreaking to see her in such a weakened condition. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers...till we meet again...

Sunday's Ramble

Well my GF went back into the hospital Wednesday before Thanksgiving. The rehab facility is just awful. They didn't do anything for her and really they should be shut down. I write more about that at a later date. When she was sent over to dialysis Wednesday the team there found she was not in good shape at all. Her oxygen levels were low so they sent her to the ER. I did not find out until after I got home that she was there. At the rehab center after work they told me she was at dialysis. I was there to have her moved to a VA hospital. Now that's the plan after she leaves our local hospital. She's a vet btw. Saturday she seemed better. I helped her eat which is one of the things that she hasn't really been doing for the last month. This afternoon I helped her eat her lunch and she did pretty good. She wasn't doing so well today compared to yesterday. She was pretty tired so I've come back home while she gets some rest. I gotta tell you it's hard seeing the one you love in such a weakened condition. Just livin' day by day....
Have a great start to your week....

This Sunday's Ramble

This morning it looks like my GF is not improving at all. She was moved to a rehab facility to help her get her strength back. She still isn't eating hardly anything. Tomorrow I'm going to see if I can get her doctor to visit her and get her. I think she needs to be moved someplace else. She told me today she hates the place and so do I. Not sure why she chose to go there and it was already decided before I got to put in any input. Life throws all kinds of things at you and this is one of the worst situations you can think of that happens. For me it's hard going. My mind is not on my job either. I took off a lot of days so I could see her when she was in the hospital. If I had that winning ticket I would quit working today. Before all of you get depressed reading all of this, let's move to the next paragraph.
One of my friends posted about the stupid things people do while driving. Well yesterday and today one of those happened that really annoys me. People not doing the speed limit. So two days in a row I'm behind some such driver. And this is what happens most of time. It happened yesterday and today. They are going slow enough that you know you won't make the green light ahead. You would if they were going the speed limit. So what happens, that slow moving car sees the light turn yellow and of course runs it while it turns red. WTH? Of course I've got to stop. It annoys the hell out of me since it would have been plenty green if the speed limit was followed. I could go on and on about stupid drivers but I think I'll just do this one until my next post. 😉
Hope your week starts with lots of smiles...till we meet again...

Sunday's Ramble

Finally my GF was discharged from the hospital today. She's still not doing that great. Mostly the ordeal of being in the hospital. It's going to be a long recovery. So glad to have her home.
It warmed up a little today which is good after some pretty freezing days. Not much to say today really. I was going to comment about some of the driving I saw this weekend. Drivers are getting much worse. Everywhere. I'll write about some of the experiences I've seen lately in a future ramble. Meanwhile start your week with lots of smiles...

One Day At A Time

It's been a rough couple of weeks. My gf has been in the hospital since last week. There's a chance she may be discharged today or tomorrow. Still there will be a lot of work to do. You never know what to expect in life. Surprises happen all the time. Some grand and others sad.
We can walk the road to eternity
Never knowing when it will be
Like the waves rolling on the sea
Just finding it's way for serenity

Sooner Or Later..A Ramble..

It's been one of those weeks. My gf is still in the hospital. I worry. And worry some more. Life always throws us the unexpected. So there's not really a whole lot to say in this ramble. I just hope she gets better very soon. At our age it takes longer to recover from any sickness etc. Our dog keeps wondering where she is. Now ramblin' on, here it is Saturday and a cool weekend. It's been a pretty cool week especially in the mornings. Plenty of rain too. The Fall is taking hold. So this morning, my usual thing is to go to the bank to get some cash. Not many people use cash anymore. But I like to for buying gas for the car or anything else that are simple purchases. At the grocery store I'm like everyone else, use the card..
So on my way back from the bank this morning, I was sitting at a red light and thought I'd take a quick picture of a pretty Fall colors. As you will be able to tell, good thing traffic isn't much at all. The light turned green about the time I took the picture. Taken from my phone....have a great weekend....

Sunday's Ramble

One of these days I'll come up with some better titles instead of a string of a million Rambles lol. Well things seem to be getting back to normal. I'm hoping the two times a week of dialysis for my gf will make her feel better than just the one day a week. She did real good yesterday and I think that's a good sign that twice a week is going to help her out.
So last night about an hour or so before it got dark, there were these ghosts and goblins and a bunch of superheroes walking around our neighborhood. It's one of those fun things you always remember from when you were a kid. And today Halloween is much bigger than when I was a kid. What I remember most is going at night. Now there are more rules. Just because of the messed up world we live in today. It's really gone wrong and is getting worse as time moves on.
But enough of that stuff. Trick or Treat time is a fun time for kids. Costumes and make-up and such are so much better than in my youth. It was fun seeing the spookys walking through the neighborhood.....Have a great week.......

Sunday Ramble A Sunday Kinda Day

I guess this could be a kinda typical Sunday. Yesterday my gf had her weekly dialysis. This time she when she was done she came home. Later Saturday evening she was sick, her stomach gets upset almost every week after dialysis. I don't know if the other people there get this way or not. Anyhoo her doctor, her kidney doctor that is, came to talk to her while she was at the dialysis center. She is going to have to go two times a week now. She was on three times a week then the docs cut it to two then one. She's not thrilled about it of course. When you have dialysis you are tied to the machine for about four hours. I feel for her. Dialysis during the week means she will have to take the bus. It's a Scat bus, one of the ones that accommodate wheelchairs. I'll get her ready before I go to work.
Hopefully two times a week will help her feel better. Only time will tell.
Also today in my city is the Susan G. Komen race for a cure for cancer. Actually it's already going.
This weekend has been like a beautiful warm Spring weather. Unreal really. Blues skies and two weekends in a row! Late tomorrow it's all going to change. True Fall weather will arrive and stick around for the week. Most likely this is it. Once the Fall like weather starts and sticks, the next step is...well you know, the brrrr days for most of a year.....
A Blast from the Past.....
Well I had a nice little video to put in here but the video option seems to be frozen, so here's the link...

A Good News Ramble

Late afternoon Wednesday my gf came home from the hospital. She's still tired from the hospital stay. She still has a way to go to be fully recovered. Things like this make you reflect. For you never know what can happen when a person goes into the hospital. I'm just happy she's home now. I want to thank my friends for their thoughts and prayers. It's very comforting.
The worst night was Monday. You never really get all the answers from the doctors so you're mind is full of questions. Plus I dropped our dog off at the vets so they could run a test on Tuesday to confirm he does indeed have Cushing's syndrome. Today I got the answer and it was yes. It's a lot to take in sometimes when it comes to who you really care about....
Once again, thank you for you being you.....

Sunday Ramble, Not So Ramblin'..

Started out as a great weekend. A normal Saturday. Take my gf to dialysis and then get the work done around the house. Well I get a call from the dialysis center close to the time my gf is ready for me to pick her up and bring her home. They tell me she needs to go to the ER. The center is just a few minutes away. When I get there they tell me they had called for the paramedics. So they bring me in and she is shaking real bad and can hardly communicate. Just a few yes and no's. In a few minutes the paramedics are there. Long story short she was admitted and is doing much better today. I still don't know all the answers. So far they say some infection. Sometimes she gets a uti. And that scrambles her memory. Just like this time. Later I'll write about the hospital experience. In the meantime our dog is ill too. So this week I'll drop him off at our vet and he will do a test to verify the syndrome he has so we can get him on the right medication. So all in all it wasn't that good of a weekend. So it's going to be a very busy week. I worry for my gf. She's not in great shape anyway so any little thing could be major. She's being treated with antibiotics so hopefully she won't be in the hospital too much longer. Our dog was looking for her when I came home Saturday. Anyone who has a pet knows they are not just a pet but family too. Let me thank you beforehand for all your thoughts and positive vibes....

Sunday Ramble

The week that was. A coward shattered the lives of many. The authorities look for a motive. For reasons. They need not look. There are none. Not any that would answer to those whose lives he shattered. Nor to the rest of us. Just a coward who killed and wounded many. People who would have given him the shirts off their backs if he needed it. Don't ask why. Just wonder when the next coward will shatter more lives.....
We lost another great musician this week too. Here's one of my favorites by Tom Petty, an early one and also the first song I heard by him....

Ramblin' a Ramble

This morning when I woke up I had a bunch of ideas for this ramble. Can't remember all of them now. Just a few I remember. Like writing about those personalized license plates. Saw some good ones this week. Problem is I didn't write them down when I got home. Then there are those you try to figure out what they mean. I watched a movie some time back that started with this couple driving and interpreting what the license plate abbreviations meant. It was a horror movie. I don't watch many of those. But I did this weekend. My gf and I watched War of the Worlds. The remake with Tom Cruise. Then the rest of Fatal Attraction when all the crazy stuff happened. We had a nice Saturday since my gf didn't have to go to dialysis. They had her go Saturday so her kidney doctor could see her. And he didn't even show up. Dialysis really takes it out of a person so it was good yesterday to have her home and not be out of it from the treatment. Needless to say I haven't got much done this weekend, it's all good. The strangest thing happened yesterday. There was a knock at the door and this woman around my age asked if our house was for sale. ??? I said, no it isn't. She stopped because our curtains were closed. Go figure. Well I don't have much else to say but the weather. We had the 90's this week. Broke a couple records too and tied one. This weekend is what the normal would be. It's around I 70 today I think. 65 yesterday. Saturday morning was brrrr in the 40's. Still no rain and that's the best when the weekends arrive. Pretty soon the cooler weather will take hold. The leaves are turning so hopefully I'll get to snap a few to post here.....till we meet again...

Sunday Ramble..the Day After..

Yesterday I was thinking of what I would write about today and one of the blogs I follow wrote about what I was thinking of for this blog. And our thoughts are similar too. Yesterday was September 23, 2017. There was a lot of talk about the day being the end of the world, that the Rapture would happen on September 23, 2017. Well as you see we're passed the 23rd and not a thing happened. It was viral all over some social sites and especially so on YouTube. And like the blogger I follow, it was already the 24th on the other side of the world. If you read the Bible it says no one will no the exact date. Over the years there's been many predictions made of what day the world will end. This one I think got more attention because of the two knuckleheads threatening to destroy each other's country. In fact it's still scary to listen to their bs. For some stupid reason we elected a President who is just a big bully who is spouting off at the other big bully across the world in Asia. Both are crazy I assume and are surely two big jackasses. What a messed up world we live in and it's getting worse. We created this internet to help link people together and look what's happening. Besides are blogs and such there are those using the internet to rob you. To incite violence. All evil stuff. What a world we live in huh?
Enough of my soapbox junk. Here we are experiencing Summer as the season has turned to Autumn. 90's for two days and to continue the first part of this week. Things are backwards. We had Autumn like temps in August. Weather is a mystery......so roll the dice...have a great week....

Sunday of Another Sunday Ramble

I had some thought of writing about the week. Starting with the anniversary of 9/11. I was going to write what I had written before on the other sites over the years about where I was when it happened. Instead this has turned into a lazy Sunday. It's beautiful and sunny here like a nice warm Summer day. Over the years many posts have been made about 9/11. On youtube there are probably millions of videos about it. The actual tv broadcasts are there. All the main networks were doing their morning shows when it happened. Last year I watched some of those. It's still as horrifying and heartbreaking as the day of the attacks. And beyond that there are I don't know how many videos of a 9/11 conspiracy. From unidentified aircraft to there were no planes at all but bombs planted in the towers. And I will leave this here..
So this week was another long one. It seems my job has become one of those things I do because of the monetary value not where I would like to be. I live for the weekends. To be free from the days of doing what we have to do and hoping I can retire at a decent age. It's the American dream right? As we get older we realize society pretty much casts us aside. It's a young people's world....
Ok I hadn't planned to make this post so depressing. It's just I feel weary sometimes and know tomorrow is back to the grind. Weekends just go by too darn fast. So I wish you all a wonderful week ahead. Till next time......

Early Sunday Ramble

Not much today for this one. A repost from my mobile plus
Into the dark
No walk in the park
Storm is comin'
Just over the horizon
The might and fury
Come from the sea
Find some shelter
My hand on your shoulder
Once it blows away
To live another day......

Our thoughts are with those in the path of Irma..

Many times life hits us with surprises. All we can do is go with it wherever it takes us..Blessed Be...

It's The Weekly Ramble...

Still today the images are heartbreaking. The wreckage Harvey left behind is beyond words. My heart goes out to all those affected by it. Here Saturday it was on and off drizzle to late Sunday morning. Nothing serious at all but it was the last of Harvey which made its way all the way to Ohio. There's a lot of organizations to donate money to help those affected. Research and choose a good one. This is what makes America great. Helping our fellow citizens in times of disaster.
Which brings this post to politics. This week Congress gets back in session to work on a number of problems. One is to raise the debt limit so the Government doesn't shut down. It's a double edged sword. Raising our debt or shutting down. If the Government shuts down, our veterans will lose their disability money and medical services. Those working for the Government will be working without a pay check. That's bad news. Also bad news is raising the debt ceiling, more trillions in debt. See double edged sword. Then there's money to allocate to FEMA. As you know that helps(or supposed to help) victims of disasters such as Harvey. Well Mitch McConnell and his fellows want to take some of the billions promised to FEMA and divert it to fund the building of the Wall across the Mexican border. So I wonder how Americans feel about that. Many support building the Wall. And yet we would be taking money away from the agency that will help in the recovery from what is now called a once in a 1000 years' disaster.  I also wonder have we lost our direction? Meaning our Government. So far this administration and Congress seem to be not willing to solve any problems at all. Most of what I've said here is just me thinking about how did we get to where we are now in this political world. It's something to think about as the next few years unfold.
Let's think of this one in a 100 years' storm. Though many people have sides on the Global warming issue, pretty much all agree it is happening. The questions are is how it got to be this way. Well I'm not going to talk about that except to say since Global warming is happening, expect to see more such storms like Harvey. Just look around and see how wacked out our weather has become.
On the lighter side, this is a Holiday weekend. Celebrating us working people with a day, Labor Day. As hard as we work to make a living we need an extra day to recharge, have fun and relax. We need more of them!
Here's our boy relaxing for the Holiday weekend with his bandana from last week's grooming.(what am I saying, he's relaxing anytime he can!) Bless my daughter for taking care of him. Free of charge lol. She grooms dogs for a living and I take him there while she works on Saturdays. It's a 40 minute drive but I don't mind at all and neither does he.  Happy Labor Day!

Sunday Ramble the Last of August

To start with our hearts go out to the people of Texas. This morning we were watching CBS and it was non stop coverage of Harvey bringing devastation to Texas. The reporters were on scene. They were also stuck and couldn't go anywhere. From the bridge they were on the highway looked like a river. To top it all off, the next few days the rain will keep coming. I can't imagine the nightmare for the people there. Their homes flooded out and everything they own is destroyed. It's heartbreaking. And we're going to see more of these storms in the future. The news didn't mention it but these severe storms are part of Global Warming. Most likely it's too late to do anything to slow it down. Our political world has turned a blind eye to it despite all the evidence and warnings.
Ok enough doom and gloom. So this afternoon we quit watching the destruction and watched the baseball game. It helped get those images out of our heads. Soon the Summer will fade away and Fall will arrive. We're looking forward to it. Maybe it will stay around and not turn into Winter this time....

Another Sunday...

I had a lot of ideas for today's post. However most of those ideas I will put on the back burner and write them in later blogs. Today's blog will be of a somber note. This week it will be a year since my cousin passed away. So this post is kinda the one I've been meaning to write but had never got to jot down. He was older than me so he was like a kind of mentor to me too. Our families spent a lot of time together when we were all kids. He and I had things in common we liked. Like comic books, art and music. When I was in high school he went with a couple of friends to California. His friends came back at some point but he stayed. He never came back here at all. In my early 20's I went to visit him with his brother and a couple of years later with my brother. We had a great time both times. So over the years we kept in touch by letters. A few phone calls back then because you remember long distance calling could be very expensive especially as long as he and I talked on the phone. We also did a lot of that before he left but that was all local calling. Even the miles apart we kept in touch and that never changed as the technology changed. We shared letters, shared tapes and later cds, books and other stuff we both liked. When I first got use of a computer, even though I didn't have one at home, we shared emails instead of letters. Electronic letters if you will. I created an email address at the library and wrote from there a couple times. Then I would use my dad's computer which from his home you could connect to the library and use their internet connection for free. There was and probably still is a time limit on that. Then of course when I got my own pc we shared from there. We always had something to say and talked about everything over the years. He was more than my cousin. He was my best friend too. This weekend I've been thinking a lot about him and how I miss our e-letters. Ironically I had just talked to him on the phone shortly before he passed. Strangely enough I remember after hanging up (I still use this line after a phone call when in reality we now hit the end button), I had forgotten to tell him something and thought I should call back. Then I said to myself, I'll tell him next time when I call. Well I didn't get that chance. The next call I got was from his brother (who lives close by to me) that he had passed. We were pretty shocked. Lastly I want to say is take that moment when you think of it. No one ever knows when it will be the last time you talk to someone you care about.
Tomorrow is the eclipse, one of those things that happen in the movement of the celestial bodies. Make it a great start to your week....

Once Upon A Ramble

Sometimes when you're thinking of what to write, things happen. So Saturday morning I took my dog out. Saturdays at 6:15 in the morning is very quiet in the neighborhood. Just the birds a singin'. Well while we were standing there I hear what sounded like some woman singing. It was quite far away and soon I recognized that it was the Star Spangled Banner. Now I knew there was no baseball going at the time. Our city has a minor league baseball team. So what was it that was going on. I didn't figure it out until hours later when I headed over to the bank. Yes I still use cash for some things. On my way I soon discovered what it was all about. It was a local marathon run. They did that last year too and I couldn't get to the bank right away. I went down to the street I usually turn on and a police officer said I couldn't go that way because it was a part of the marathon. So I told him where I was going hoping he would offer an idea. Well he didn't have a clue where the bank was that I was going to. It was maybe a mile away in a shopping center that had been there forever. Today it would be called a strip mall I imagine but was before that term existed. Plus it was built many years before there was ever a mall in our area. So this 20 something police officer didn't know a thing about the neighborhood. Nor did he seem to know the streets and area I mentioned. You would think he would know the entire marathon route, right? So I asked when it would be over. He said around a half hour. So I headed home instead and went much later than usual.
I wonder how many people have Photobucket accounts still. I don't have many pics there and have only been using a few on the other sites I'm at for part of my page theme. A lot of people at those sites have lots of pics at Photobucket and found they were no longer working for their themes. I tried going into my account a couple weeks ago and it was a nightmare trying to do anything in Photobucket. I did get my pics to work again. So today I noticed they weren't working again. And here's why. Now you must pay to have them to work. They set a standard that your codes will only work for a large amount of stored pics. Which as I said I don't have. So much for a free account 'eh?  When I logged in there today I could at least work with it. Kinda back to normal except the pay part. I didn't sign up for it either. As I looked at my pics, I got rid of a few I didn't want anymore and downloaded the ones I'm not sure I have backed up anywhere else. Here's one I took from my mom's flower garden in the corner of the backyard from years ago.....

Ramblin' Sunday Day

A friend mine posted about the loss of friends when they pass on to the next journey. It was about looking to find them and the not knowing where that friend went. So it got me to thinking about a lot of things. Before the cyber world we would prepare for our next journey with a will to whatever estate we have to leave what we have to the people and family we want all of it to go to. That way the state wouldn't get a hold of it and take what you want to pass on to your heirs. Well there's more to be done with our lives now immersed in the cyber world. Make sure you prepare for a family member or someone you love and trust to take care of your cyber pages. This way your friends will know you've passed to the next great journey....
So along with that my mind wandered and some words followed to write a new poem, my first in a very long time....
The Sound I Hear
The years have passed
You drift in my mind
All the emotions come back
That I had left behind
For the memories I feel
Sing the song to me
Hidden in my heart
Of what we could be
It's the sound I hear
With reason to fear
Touching you so dear
Wishing you were near
Awake for another day
Looking at the future
The sky falls away
And I'm so unsure
Reality blurs to a mist
Question to what to do
I am here and there
Knowing I did love you
It's the sound I hear
With reason to fear
Wishing you were near
Should I reach out
To find you still
Travel on down again
To climb up that hill
Once, we chanced to love
In the darkest night
Letting ourselves go
Leaving without a fight
It's the sound I hear
With reason to fear
Wishing you were near
As I gaze the stars above
I remember once, yes love

Ramblin' Sunday Once Again

Saturday was a truly beautiful day. Not just the weather (yes the weather people guessed wrong again), you see my brother got married. I'm so happy for him. A few years ago his wife of 30+ years passed away. I can't imagine how awful that was for him. So he found a site somewhere to talk to other people who lost their spouses. And he met the bride to be there. This is the wonderful side of the internet. So yesterday they got married, what a wonderful thing for both of them. The last few years have been rough for our family. It's good to see us carry on and look to the future. Love is an amazing thing. If only our world shared more of it. Like the song says, "what a wonderful world it would be."........
